About Finance on SkillsBank

Finance work punishes sloppiness — a mislinked cell, an unlabelled assumption, a model no one else can audit. The AI skills and prompts on this page are built to the standards finance professionals already hold themselves to: Wall-Street-convention modelling, clearly-sourced assumptions, and outputs you can hand to a reviewer without apology.

Every offering here is written, tested, and human-reviewed in-house before it ships — never scraped from a public repo or crowd-sourced. You bring your own AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, and others); we bring the expert instructions that make it produce work at a professional bar, without the prompt-engineering.

Questions

What are Claude skills for finance?

A Claude skill is an installable SKILL.md file that teaches your AI assistant a repeatable, expert-level finance task — building a 3-statement model, formatting a workbook to IB convention, running a DCF check. You install it once and the assistant follows it every time. Prompts are the paste-once version for one-off tasks. Both are on this page.

Do these work with ChatGPT and in Excel?

Prompts paste into Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or any AI assistant. Skills (SKILL.md files) install natively in Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Codex, Gemini CLI, and claude.ai. Excel-output skills generate a real .xlsx workbook you open in Excel — the model is built by your assistant following the skill, not inside a spreadsheet plugin.

Are SkillsBank's finance offerings safe to use with my work?

Every finance offering is written in-house by our own pipeline and human-reviewed before publishing — nothing is scraped or crowd-sourced, so there is no third-party code to trust. Outputs still come from your own AI assistant and depend on your inputs, so review results before relying on them; these are expert templates, not professional financial advice.

What's the difference between a skill and a prompt?

A skill is for something you do repeatedly and want done the same way every time — you install the SKILL.md once. A prompt is for a one-off task — you paste it, fill in the [brackets], and go. Recurring modelling and formatting standards are skills; a single ad-hoc analysis is usually a prompt.

How do I install a finance skill?

Download the .zip and upload it in Claude under Customize → Skills, or drop the SKILL.md into ~/.claude/skills/ (personal) or your repo's .claude/skills/ (team-shared) for Claude Code, Cursor, and other coding agents. Each offering page has the full step-by-step for your assistant.
